Semiconductor refers to a material whose conductivity is between that of a conductor and an insulator at room temperature.

Semiconductors are used in integrated circuits, consumer electronics, communication systems, photovoltaic power generation, lighting, high-power power conversion and other fields. For example, diodes are devices made of semiconductors.

Whether from the perspective of technology or economic development, the importance of semiconductors is very huge. The core units of most electronic products, such as computers, mobile phones, or digital recorders, are closely related to semiconductors.

Common semiconductor materials include silicon, germanium, gallium arsenide, etc. Silicon is the most influential one in various semiconductor material applications.

Substances exist in many forms, solid, liquid, gas, plasma and so on. We usually call materials with poor conductivity, such as coal, artificial crystals, amber, and ceramics, as insulators. Metals with good conductivity, such as gold, silver, copper, iron, tin, aluminum, etc., are called conductors. You can simply call the material between the conductor and the insulator a semiconductor. Compared with conductors and insulators, the discovery of semiconductor materials is the latest. It was not until the 1930s that the existence of semiconductors was truly recognized by academia when the purification technology of materials was improved.

Semiconductor refers to a material whose conductivity is between that of a conductor and an insulator at room temperature. Semiconductor refers to a material with controllable conductivity, ranging from insulators to conductors. From the perspective of science, technology and economic development, semiconductors affect people's daily work and life. It was not until the 1930s that this material was recognized by academia.
